Bio
David Hume, DO (Hyoom), is committed to helping his patients live better lives. He started practicing in 2003 with medical interest in dermatology, musculoskeletal issues, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hypothyroidism, smoking cessation and weight loss. Dr. Hume treats adults, performing adult physical exams, well women exams and Medicare annual wellness visits.
Dr. Hume earned his undergraduate degree in business administration from S.U.N.Y Oswego. He then attended medical school at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) where he taught as an associate professor for 14 years. He completed his residency at the Banner University Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ, with a specialty in family medicine. He is board certified by the American Board Osteopathic Family Medicine (ABOFM) and a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP). He is certified in cytotechnology, which is the microscopic study of body cells to detect cancer, viral and bacterial infections, and other abnormal conditions. He worked as a cytotechnologist for six years prior to attending medical school
Of special note, Hume is retired from the US Army and US Air Force after 27 years of service. He was deployed twice, once to Iraq and later to Qatar. He was a flight surgeon with combat flight hours.
In his free time, Dr. Hume enjoys working out, long distance running, weight training, reading, raising chickens, real estate, investing and Miami Hurricanes football. His wife is a pediatrician. They have three children.
