Afshan Khan, MD

Afshan Khan (pronounced Af shan / Kaan), MD, is committed to her patient's health. She began practicing medicine in 1999 focusing on obstetrics and gynecology. Over the years, Dr. Khan transitioned to the field of family medicine which she continues to practice today. Her areas of clinical interest include acute and chronic illnesses, preventive care, women's health, geriatric care, LGBTQ, adolescent health. She believes in patient- physician partnership, working with the patient to improve quality of life. Her idea is to provide not only medical care but also support them to achieve their health-related goals.

Dr. Khan earned her medical degree from Quaid-e-Azam Medical College[ECD2] in Pakistan. Upon graduation from medical school, she completed obstetrics and Gynecology training and earned a Member of College of Physicians and Surgeons and a Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan. She was awarded several distinctions including Exemplary Service Doctor of the Year[ECD3] . She then went on to work with the Canadian HealthCare system where she completed one year of postgraduate preceptorship in family practice. Dr. Khan completed her family medicine residency with the Alaska Family Medicine Residency Program and is board certified in family medicine. Dr. Khan is an active member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Dr. Khan is also fluent in Urdu, Hindi and Panjabi.

When she is not partnering with her patients for health outcomes, Dr. Khan enjoys spending time with her family, crafting and painting.
