Bio
James Lugo (pronounced “Jay mz / Loo go”), MD, began practicing medicine in 2016. Dr. Lugo is dedicated to providing personalized and proactive care for his patients. He has clinical interest in preventive medicine, geriatric medicine, sports medicine, weight management and dermatology. Dr. Lugo also has interest in health care informatics and automatization.
Dr. Lugo earned an undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus in Puerto Rico. He went to medical school at the Ponce Health Sciences University in Ponce, PR. Dr. Lugo completed his residency in Family Medicine at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He is board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). He is also a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). In addition to English, Dr. Lugo speaks Spanish.
On a personal note, Dr. Lugo appreciates diverse populations and enjoys adapting to his patients’ cultural needs. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Dr. Lugo also enjoys exercising and specifically road cycling, mountain biking, running marathons and competing in triathlons.
