Joyce Hughes, MD

Joyce Forsthoefel Hughes, MD, (Hyooz) is a board-certified pediatric physician. She started practicing in 1984 when she moved to Murray, Kentucky, and opened Hughes Medical Office with her husband, Robert Hughes, MD. Her medical focus includes pediatrics, childhood ADHD, anxiety and depression, as well as newborn nutrition and breastfeeding. Dr. Hughes treats patients up to the age of 20, performing well child exams. 

 Dr. Hughes earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville and attended medical school at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She completed her residency at the Kosair Children's Hospital, now Norton Children's Hospital, in Louisville. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Kentucky Chapter of the AAP. She spent summers working in pediatric hematology and oncology during medical school and worked at a school for autism during her college years.  

 When she’s not helping her patients, Dr. Hughes enjoys photography, painting, art and music. She and Dr. Hughes raised four sons and have three grandchildren. She is also an active member of her church, teaching children and working with music.
