Working Hard Towards Access to Healthcare for Everyone

As a primary care doctor, I am passionate about improving the lives of my patients by providing cost-effective, quality care, in their neighborhood. That is why I work at Village Medical™, where we believe deeply in the importance of health equity and access to care.

You may ask what health equity is as it can be a difficult concept to understand and even more difficult to achieve. To me health equity is the ability to reach the highest level of health possible, for everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, economic status or location. Every patient deserves a fair opportunity to access high-quality, affordable health care to be as healthy as they can possibly be, and in my opinion, this will always be worth fighting to achieve.

Unfortunately, the burden of health inequity typically falls on racial minorities and lower-income communities, who tend to have higher rates of chronic disease and worse health results. While this group has the greatest needs, they often have the fewest resources and often require more, not equal, effort and resources to level the playing field. As a primary care doctor in Lithonia, GA, I’m working to promote health equity for all my patients and everyone in my community.

Bringing care to communities that need it the most.

Everyone deserves a trusting relationship with a primary care doctor or advanced practice provider* (APP) and to us at Village Medical, that means providing high-quality health care in underserved communities. Like many doctors, for most of my career, I practiced in an environment where the number of patients seen is prioritized over the quality of the care they may individually receive. Village Medical flips that model on its head so instead of focusing on the number of patients I see every day, I can focus on spending more time with my patients during their visits and helping them reach their individual health needs as a result.

We also understand your social needs play a large role in your health and well-being, and as part of our commitment to all our patients, we want to help you access resources and services in your community. That is why we have partnered with Findhelp to help our patients in addressing these needs. Click here to go to Findhelp and just type in your ZIP code to find and access resources and services in your community, such as medication assistance, transportation, housing, food and many others. Be sure to speak with your doctor or APP, if you need more information or assistance accessing these resources.

At Village Medical, we see a world where people live longer, healthier lives in stronger communities, and every day we are working towards advancing healthcare by providing high-quality, compassionate care with our patients’ best interests at heart.

*An advanced practice provider is defined as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
