Working Together to Deliver Patient-Centered Care

Introducing our new blog, Journey to Well, and what you can expect to learn from it.

We need every part of our body for it to function as one. We need our lungs to breathe, our hearts to pump blood, our eyes to see and our legs to walk. Every part has a different purpose and strength and although each part contributes something different, each is valuable. Just like every part of your body is significant to your overall health and well-being, every member of your care team is important to the care you receive at Village Medical.

We spoke with Elika Ortiz, practice manager at Village Medical at Walgreens in Windemere, Florida to learn more about the critical contributions each member of her team makes to delivering patient-centered care.

“Our ability to go above and beyond for our patients is what sets us apart and we would not be able to do that without truly being connected as a team,” said Elika. "Through our connection to one another, we are able to provide high-quality, coordinated care to every patient that comes through our door.”

Our medical assistants are an important part of your care team. Just as our hair often reflects our spirit, our medical assistants bring energy, joy, and comfort to your overall experience with us. They work alongside doctors and advanced practice providers* (APPs) to give support, education and quality care. Your medical assistant might talk to you about your medical history, draw your blood or provide you with instructions about the medication you are taking.

Vibrant, healthy, strong hair is an indication your body is producing enough vitamins and nutrients to keep your body running well. The same goes for medical assistants. Without their energy and guidance, the overall patient experience would not be as impactful.

Our practice managers may not take an active role in your personalized care, but they are always behind the scenes, strategizing ways to elevate your practice and deliver better patient-centered care. They work alongside every member of your care team to make sure your experience is seamless and meaningful. Our brains are the control center of our body – your practice manager functions the same way for the practice.

The clinical lead, just like the heart, provides support to the whole practice and keeps it thriving. With you in mind always, they provide leadership and guidance on matters impacting patient care, patient safety and the overall patient experience. Similar to the practice manager, they inspire the care team to provide the best, personalized care to each and every patient. Just like the brain and heart work together to keep you moving forward, the clinical lead and practice manager work together to deliver patient-centered care.

The spine is our body's central support structure. It keeps us upright and connects the different parts of our skeleton to each other. Your front office staff functions the same way. They set the tone for your experience with us. Our front office staff is there to make you feel at ease from the moment you walk through the door, to the moment you check-out to leave. They are there to answer your questions, connect you to the right people, schedule your appointments, and handle all the small details so you can focus on your health and getting the most out of your visit.

Our doctors and APPs are the pillar on which we build. Just as our legs allow us to move forward and get to where we need to be, your primary care doctor or APP will work with you to address your concerns and help you reach your individual health goals. By providing value-based care, they focus on spending as much time as needed to make sure you leave with all the answers and information you need. They deliver high-quality, personalized care, and because they have a patient-centered approach, they partner with you on your health decisions.

Every part of your body is essential for your overall health and well-being just as every member of your care team is essential to your overall experience with us. When you are with us, you can rest assured, your whole team is there for you.
